Our Science Curriculum 

At Northlands Primary School & Nursery, we aim to inspire curiosity and develop a lifelong interest in the world around us through an engaging and ambitious Science curriculum. Our pupils are encouraged to think and work like scientists: asking questions, making predictions, exploring ideas, carrying out practical investigations and using evidence to draw conclusions. Through our Big Questions and Small Questions, children build their scientific knowledge and understanding step by step, making meaningful connections with their previous learning. We place a strong emphasis on practical experiences, scientific vocabulary and purposeful discussion, giving pupils opportunities to agree, build upon and challenge one another’s ideas. Our aim is for every child to leave Northlands with the knowledge, skills and confidence to question, investigate and explain the world around them, while recognising the important role that science plays in everyday life and our future.
