    Our Modern Foreign Languages Curriculum

Learning a foreign language is part of the primary National Curriculum and is a requirement for all children within Key Stage 2 (KS2). Northlands has adopted a whole school approach to the teaching of Spanish to all KS2 pupils. A high-quality Spanish curriculum sparks curiosity and encourages an eagerness in children to be bold in their use of language; we are ambitious in our expectations for all learners, including SEND and other vulnerable groups.

The purpose of our curriculum is to help children grow into curious, confident and reflective language learners who tackle learning with eager resilience. We aim to provide our children with a foundation that will equip them for further language studies, leaving Northlands inspired to continue to develop their love of languages, transferring their persistent and effective strategies to whichever languages they tackle in the future.
