Anti-Bullying Champions
At Northlands, we are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all of our students so they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable at our school. If bullying does occur, all students should be able to tell and know that incidents will be dealt with promptly, severely and effectively. This means that anyone who knows that bullying is happening is expected to inform members of staff.
Each class from Reception to Year 6 has an elected 'Anti-Bullying Ambassador'. These ambassadors meet regularly to discuss issues and receive in-house training on how to deal with any incidents which may be seen as bullying.
Over the last year, we have been undertaking the 'United Against Bullying' project, run by the Anti-Bullying Alliance. Through this project, we have asked children across the school how they feel about bullying, have worked with our Anti-Bullying Champions on writing a policy that is 'user friendly' and have organised an anti-bullying week including hosting a workshop about how what bullying could look like and how to tackle forms of bullying.
Throughout the school, we use the acronym S.T.O.P. to explain bullying to children - Several Times on Purpose.
